Refunds & Cancellations Policy

BharatRyd helps people share rides and split travel costs. We know plans can change, so this policy explains how we handle cancellations and refunds fairly for everyone.

Remember, BharatRyd is a carpooling platform, not a taxi service. We connect riders and drivers who share travel expenses—we don't provide transportation ourselves.

Cancellations by Riders

You can cancel anytime, but please do it as early as possible. Last-minute cancellations are unfair to drivers who've already planned around your booking.

Cancel early through the app if your plans change. Drivers appreciate the notice and can offer your seat to someone else.

Frequent cancellations affect your account reputation. If you cancel rides regularly without good reasons, it may impact your future bookings.

No-shows (not showing up without canceling) are the worst. Don't do this—always cancel through the app if you can't make it.

Cancellations by Drivers

Drivers can cancel if genuine situations arise—vehicle problems, emergencies, or unavoidable changes.

Inform riders immediately through the app so they can find alternative transport. Last-minute driver cancellations cause major inconvenience.

Repeated cancellations by drivers lead to account warnings or restrictions. Only offer rides you can actually fulfill.

When You Get a Refund

Refunds may be approved if:

  • Driver cancels after you've paid
  • Ride doesn't happen due to driver's fault
  • Technical error causes duplicate payment
  • Ride details were completely wrong

Refunds are not given when:

  • You cancel the ride yourself
  • Ride was completed successfully
  • You didn't show up without canceling
  • You cancel within 30 minutes of departure
  • You violated platform rules

Each case is reviewed individually based on circumstances and timing.

How Refunds Work

Refund Method: Money goes back to your original payment source—card, UPI, or BharatRyd wallet. No cash refunds.

Timeline: Approved refunds take 3-7 business days to reach your account. Sometimes faster, sometimes a bit longer depending on your bank.

Not instant: We process refunds quickly, but banks and payment gateways have their own timelines.

Check refund status in your app's transaction history. If it's been over 7 days, contact your bank.

No Refunds For

  • Completed rides where you traveled
  • No-shows without app cancellation
  • Very late cancellations (within 30-60 minutes)
  • False or exaggerated refund claims
  • Account suspended for policy violations

Disputes & Support

Need to report an issue? Go to your ride history in the app, select the trip, and tap "Report Issue" or "Request Refund."

Provide details: Date, time, locations, payment amount, and what went wrong. Screenshots help.

We review fairly: Our team checks both sides of the story before deciding. We typically respond within 2-5 business days.

Be honest: False claims lead to rejection and possible account action.

Our Rights

BharatRyd can approve, deny, or partially process refunds based on our review. We investigate suspicious patterns and may suspend accounts that abuse the refund system.

Our decision on refunds is final, but we promise to review every request honestly and fairly.

Policy Updates

We may update this policy occasionally. Check back regularly, especially before making payments. Continued use of BharatRyd means you accept any changes.

Bottom Line

Best practice: Honor your commitments. If you book a ride, show up. If you offer a ride, complete it.

If plans change: Cancel immediately through the app. Early communication helps everyone adjust.

Be fair: Riders and drivers both deserve respect and consideration.

BharatRyd works best when everyone acts responsibly. Let's keep our community reliable and trustworthy.
